Two people were killed late Wednesday when a nearly $200,000 sports car crashed and caught fire along I-195 in Jackson, authorities said.
James Fusaro, 26, and Christina McNamara, 25, both of Jackson, died in the 11:14 p.m. wreck, State Police Trooper Alejandro Goez said. Fusaro and McNamara were engaged to be married, according to a 2016 post on his social media account.
Fusaro was driving the 2017 McLaren 570S west when it went off the right side of the road in the area between the ramps for exit 22, hit an embankment, overturned and caught fire, Goez said.
Fusaro, who was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown from the car. McNamara was entrapped in the vehicle, Goez said. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
