JERSEY CITY — Four days after two people were killed in a violent crash on Tonnelle Avenue, authorities returned to the scene this morning to continue investigating.

Mario Guevara, 25, and Heather Acosta, 24, both of Union City, were backseat passengers in one of the vehicles involved in the wreck early Sunday morning. They were pronounced dead at the scene.

Members of the Hudson County Regional Fatal Collision Unit were out taking measurements on a long stretch of the roadway just before the morning rush hour commute on Thursday. No charges have been announced in the wreck.

According to the crash report, a 31-year-old Union City man was driving a white Honda Accord that collided with a red Toyota Corolla driven by a 25-year-old Union City woman.

The owner of the white vehicle, a 35-year-old Jersey City woman, was the front seat passenger, the report indicates.

A 26-year-old woman was driving the Toyota, which is registered to a woman in Maryland. A 24-year-old Union City man was the front seat passenger and Guevara and Acosta were in the backseat.

Both drivers and front seat passengers were treated for injuries at a local hospital. The report does not indicate that drug or alcohol tests were given to the drivers.
