Mild snow inflicting slick roads, faculty delays

Light snow is creating slick road conditions and some school delays early Thursday morning.

By 4:30 a.m. between a dusting to a half-inch has fallen across southwestern Connecticut.

While major roads like I-95, I-84 and the Merritt and Wilbur Cross parkways are clear, the shoulders and exit/entrance ramps are snow covered.

Secondary roads are especially slippery.

Bridgeport, Stratford, Naugatuck and Regional School Districts 12 and 16 have a two-hour delay. The delayed opening list is expected to grow. For an updated list click HERE.

Temperatures remain in the mid-20s.

No major problems are reported on state roads.

Major roads are expected to be just wet during the peak of the AM commute.

Just before 5 a.m., state Department of Transportation crews were working to remove any remaining snow from major roads.

No delays are being reported on Metro-North.

State Police are urging drivers to give themselves extra time to get to their destination. Drivers should also reduce speeds and give extra distance between vehicles.
