JERSEY CITY — A 19-year-old man was shot multiple times on Summit Avenue Friday night and the alleged shooter has been charged with attempted murder, authorities said.
The shooting occurred at about 8:45 p.m. near Gardner Avenue, city spokeswoman Kim Scalcione said.
Police arrested Marc Russel, 22, after a foot pursuit following the shooting. A handgun fell from his pocket while he was running from police and he allegedly admitted to possessing the weapon, Scalcione said.
The handgun was reported stolen out of South Carolina in April. Russel was charged with weapons offenses, resisting arrest, and attempted murder.
Meanwhile, while the victim was being treated by doctors at the hospital, staff found he had drugs in his pocket and police arrested him. The 19-year-old, who was the victim of a shooting June, is in stable condition.
