Man Who Shot Lady at Chickasaw Parade Arrested

CHICKASAW, Alabama (WKRG) – Roger Andrews was arrested early Thursday morning. He is charged with assault second degree. His arrest comes one day after Andrews spoke exclusively with News 5 about the shooting.

Roger Andrews said he had just pulled up to the parade when a pit bull began attacking his dog. He said when he tried to pull the dog off, the pit bull dragged the two of them into the street. He said that’s when an off-duty animal control officer stepped in to help.

“She knew how to break the hold on the dog,” said Andrews. “She got on top of the dog and popped his jaws loose.”

He said he was in a state of shock when he pulled out his gun and fired at the pit bull.

“I had it aimed at the dog’s mouth and somehow when the dog broke loose the gun went up and shot her in the hand,” said Andrews.

News 5 spoke with the victim in the shooting who declined an interview.

We have reached out to Chickasaw Police to learn more about the assault charge. We have not yet heard back.
