Pence helps give Vietnam Veterans Memorial a holiday washing

WASHINGTON (AP) – Vice President Mike and his spouse, Karen, joined a number of dozen volunteers to provide the Vietnam Veterans Memorial a vacation cleansing.

Carrying orange buckets with the message “Let’s Do This,” the Pences spent about forty minutes Saturday wiping down the face of the well-known wall on the Nationwide Mall engraved with the names of fallen troopers.

The vice chairman shook palms and posed for photographs with the volunteers in subfreezing temperatures simply after daybreak, declaring: “This can be a nice method to begin Veterans Day!”

The cleanup was sponsored by the New Day USA, a mortgage corporations specializing in loans to veterans.

The group was joined by James Pierce, a Nationwide Park Service ranger who misplaced a leg whereas serving with the North Carolina Military Nationwide Guard in Afghanistan.
